Progress Blog #33

Hello wonderful people from the internet!

Welcome back to the 33rd part of our progress blog!

What is the current state of play?

Game Design

We’ve made good progress here on the gear/rune system and the special abilities. We’ll go into detail about the entire system once we’re a bit further along with implementing it in the game. It would be a bit too much for the (almost) weekly blog. But we can say that we’re extremely satisfied with the current and final version, and we’ve already finalized the design for all the abilities.

We’re currently working on setting up the Steam page and have revamped our key art and main character for it. However, we don’t want to show this just yet; we’ll wait to release it until the Steam page goes live at the end of August (for Gamescom).

The UI has been fully implemented, at least from a technical standpoint. We now have completely new interactions, a much clearer layout, and the design fits the style much better. We’ve completely revamped it, and you can see what it looks like in the video below. Please note that the assets aren’t finished yet, so we’re working with placeholders.

We’ve also added significant depth to the game; we’ve integrated the entire affix system as well as the new ability/gear system. We’ve also already incorporated many of the existing affixes into the game.

What we will do this week?

Game Design

After taking a break to revamp the gear system, we’re now getting back to level design, specifically, to a system that will help us build levels better, faster, and more enjoyably.

Art

For Gamescom, we plan to make the vertical slice look as good as possible; to that end, we’re now producing environmental assets, which is on the agenda for this week.

Programming

Since we’ve changed the Gear Skill System, the Basic Attack has also changed; we’ll start working on it this week and implement the system behind it. Furthermore, we’ve now reached the point where we’re moving on to the production of the abilities, and we’ll begin that work this week.

And that concludes this week’s update. Enu continues to grow with every step, and we’re excited to keep turning ideas into progress. Thank you for following along, sharing your thoughts, and being part of the journey with us. We’ve got plenty more planned, and we can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.
