Hello wonderful people from the internet!
Welcome back to the 32nd part of our progress blog!
What is the current state of play?
Game Design
We’re currently working on the first level, which may be playable in a demo around October. We’ve been thinking about how to maintain the tension and intensity in the levels, and in general, we’re trying to introduce mechanics effectively and then combine them with familiar platforms, enemies, and traps to keep creating exciting levels. That’s why we’ll structure the levels so that they take less time to complete at the beginning than levels later on.
Art
We are in the process of finalizing and creating the main character. The character will now take the following direction:

The character in the bottom left corner, in particular, captures the new design quite accurately. There will still be some minor changes here as well, but this already gives a pretty clear idea of what this new version will look like.
We’ve also made some progress with our key art and have incorporated the new character into it. Here are a few early concept-screenshots from it:

Programming
We are currently in the process of revising the gear system; we are currently implementing and testing these changes to see if they make the game more enjoyable or if they need to be revised further. We have also continued working on our new inventory, which should now be much more organized and easier to use.
What we will do this week?
Game Design
We will continue to work on the levels and also test the new gear system to determine whether to keep it.
Art
Here, we will further develop and finalize the key art shown above. We will also begin developing environmental assets for the vertical slice, as well as for the trailer and the game in general.
Programming
Here, we will further expand the gear system, and if we decide to proceed with it, the old abilities will be completely and thoroughly converted to the new system, and additional abilities will be added. We also plan to implement affixes, elements, and other bonuses.
We will also implement the UI for this.
Additionally, we will prototype a platform that is highly relevant for Level 1 so that the designer can test it more effectively.
That’s a wrap for this week’s update. Every change, improvement, and new idea helps shape Enu into something we’re proud to build. We’re grateful to have you following along and being part of the journey. There’s much more ahead, and we’re excited to keep sharing the progress with you as we move forward. Stay tuned!
